Warrain Beach
Warrain Beach begins on the southern side of Penguin Head and runs south for about 4 kilometres. A long rugged surf beach it is home to one of the few surf life saving clubs in the Shoalhaven. - the Nowra Culburra Surf Life Saving Club. Wide golden beaches provide a variety o surf conditions for board riders and swimmers. Beach patrols in Summer only. The beach passes the mouth of Lake Wollumboola which is the south coast largest shallow, saline coastal lagoon - most of it actually above sea level.
Lake Wollumboola is a bird lovers paradise with up to 20,000 water birds in residence, including the endangered Little Tern. As many as 10,000 swans have been sighted on the lake at one time. A popular beach with families, surfers and birdwatchers. Well worth a visit.
