Coast Walk Clovelly to Maroubra

Untitled Document

Coast Walk Clovelly Beach to Maroubra Beach

Within Randwick City Council this clearly signposted and spectacular walk sinuously hugs the coastline from Clovelly Beach in the North to Maroubra Beach at the Southern end.

Start your walk at Waverley Cemetery; wander through Clovelly Beach, down into Gordon's Bay and onto Coogee Beach.

Continue the walk to Maroubra Beach via Grant Reserve, Trenery Reserve and Lurline Bay. If it is high tide, or you are not into rock hopping, you will have to skip Lurline Bay and take short detour from the coast and use the local roads. You can pick up the trail again at Marine Parade and continue down onto Maroubra Beach.

If your up to it you can then continue all the way to La Perouse (only for the fit). Where you can refuel and recover while enjoying the delightful ambience of your choice of the side-walk cafe's.

The La Perouse walk passes through several parks and reserves as well as encompassing the city's beaches.

Much of the walkway is wheelchair accessible to spectacular views and picnic areas. At Clovelly Beach a unique ramp, wheelchair accessible, has been installed, which allows the physically disabled easy access to the water.

Approximate walking times, on route facilities, disabled access locations and relevant public transport routes are noted on the Eastern Beaches Walk Map (.pdf)

Timber boardwalks have been designed to create a raised walkway through some of the delicate areas of vegetation and peat bogs throughout the coastal walk

The Eastern Beaches Coast walk not only provides access to
spectacular views of the coastline, it also provides an insight into the area's social and environmental history. Randwick City Council has installed a range of signs along the walkway, providing historical information on local inventors, shipwrecks and landholders.

Environmental features, such as adaptations by plant communities and geological occurrences have also been fully explained and illustrated on the interpretive signs.

Timber boardwalks have been designed to create a raised walkway through some of the delicate areas of vegetation and peat bogs. A link to a list of local coastal plant species has been provided.

You may wish to look for and identify some of the native birds that can be seen along the way. A link to a list of local bird species has also been provided.

The Eastern Beaches Coast Walk is a project funded by Randwick City Council in conjunction with several New South Wales State Government Departments. Much of the labour required to regenerate the Coastal Heath vegetation has been donated by the Randwick Bush Regeneration Volunteers. For further information about joining the bush care group, contact Randwick City Council.
