Bronte House Open Days

Spring 2007 Garden Weekends at Bronte HouseThe next Open Days for 2007 will be 24th & 25th November.

The garden is only open a few days each year giving garden enthusiasts and locals an opportunity to wander through a 19th century garden – a feeling enhanced by rare plant selections, a natural creek and beautiful native birds.

Head Gardener Myles Baldwin said, “New to the garden is a world’s first planting of a Wollemi Pine. Never before has a Wollemi Pine been planted in a true garden setting”. The Wollemi will be positioned at the end of Lovers Walk at the Bronte gully, and will be in protected conditions similar to its home gully.

The pine was bought at the first generation release of Wollemi pine is a direct descendant from the Hercules tree. A keen horticultural eye would note three similarities between the Wollemi pine and the existing stands of araucaria. Myles Baldwin and Grahame Rowe will be available to answer questions on the garden.
